Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ
Do you need a license to rent a boat?
For Mawi Boats' vessels, it is necessary to have a boating license. The Basic Navigation License (also known as "Titulín") is required for boats up to 6 meters in length, while the Basic Navigation Skipper (PNB) allows the operation of motorized recreational boats over 6 meters in length. The boats should not venture more than 2 nautical miles from a port, marina, or sheltered area with the Titulín, and up to 5 nautical miles with the PNB, in any direction.
If you don't have a certification, we can offer you the option to rent the boat with a Skipper at an additional cost (€150/day or €100/half day).
Leave behind the worries of navigation responsibilities, passenger management, or finding an anchoring spot. Instead, enjoy a day at sea with your loved ones, soaking up the sun or engaging in water sports.
Cancellation Policy
- Cancellation made more than 2 weeks prior to the rental start date will be eligible for a 50% refund of the rental amount, excluding service fees.
- Cancellation made less than 2 weeks before the rental start date will not be eligible for any refund, and the full rental amount will be retained by the boat owner.
- In the event of a cancellation made with at least 3 weeks' notice before the rental start date, the booking can be rescheduled to the next available date on the calendar.
Please note that any changes or cancellations should be communicated in a timely manner to ensure proper handling of the reservation.
Booking & Payment
Due to high demand for boat rentals during the summer, it is necessary to make full payment in advance to reserve the desired date and secure the boat. Payments can be made via bank transfer or Bizum, once availability has been confirmed by the boat owner.
When making your reservation, please have your ID or passport, as well as your boating license and send via WhatsApp to +34 699 970 422 or by email to mawiboats@gmail.com. This will ensure a smooth confirmation process for your reservation.
Can I cancel in case of bad weather conditions?
A comprehensive weather report for the entire rental period or a hazardous navigation situation enables cancellation of the reservation at no cost or rescheduling to the next available date on the calendar.
In the absence of any navigation risks, cancellation does not apply, and the rental amount is non-refundable. However, there is flexibility to modify the reservation dates without incurring any fees, subject to agreement with the owner.
Can the owner cancel my reservation?
Security Deposit & Insurance
Before the boat handover, a security deposit of 500 or 750€ is required, which will be refunded at the end of the rental period if the boat remains undamaged. The security deposit can be paid in cash or by credit card using a POS terminal.
In the event of an accident or damage to the boat, the full amount of the security deposit will be retained until the repair costs are assessed by an expert.
Please note that the insurance includes a deductible and does not cover any damages caused by negligence on the part of the skipper.
